El Presidente Cocktail

The El Presidente cocktail hails from Cuba and were created in the early 1900s. This drink is typically made with rum, orange curaçao, vermouth, and grenadine. The original recipe for this cocktail actually calls for blanc vermouth, but it is a harder liquor to come across so many make this with dry vermouth. Still good, just not considered the \”original\” recipe.

El Presidente gained its popularity during the prohibition when American tourists would go to Cuba, where they were finally able to drink. Once the prohibition ended, the tourists brought the drink back to America, where it was regularly made until the middle of the 1900s. It has since been revived and it a refreshing drink to enjoy at any time.
